Fittings
Starting fittings are used in Over-the-Post stair applications for a smooth flowing, uninterrupted handrail line. "Left" and "Right" reference regarding stair fittings is determined as if you stood at the bottom of the staircase, and looked up. Starting Fittings require a Starting Step and Volutes also require additional balusters.

Starting & Up Easings
Use Starting Fittings to provide smooth transitions when connecting the handrail. Use Up Easings to raise the rail from a normal rake to join with other fittings. Use 90 degree Up Easings to transition between horizontal and vertical rail sections. Use Over-Easings to transition up from a lower angled rail section (the run of the stair), to a level section of the stair (balcony or landing).

Level Fittings
Use Level Fittings to start handrail or change handrail direction when the handrail remains level. Opening Caps can be used to begin level sections of divider rail. Tandem Caps are used over Newel Posts to help support long sections of level rail. Quarterturns are used to turn level rail either 90 degrees or 135 degrees at critical turning points. A Level Turn 180 is used to turn the direction of the rail 180 degrees. A Return End is used to end a length of rail.

Goosenecks
Gooseneck Fittings enable the handrail to remain parallel to the stairs angle of ascent (the rise) while transitioning the handrail up - to connect with, or flow over - the newel post, or join another run of level or angled rail. Gooseneck Fittings also provide additional strength and stability to the balustrade system when connected to support-bearing newel posts.
